The Object Image Gallery celebrates its‚
Fifth Anniversary with a group show of over fourteen gallery artists.
In its five years of exhibiting art at its 91 Fifth Avenue location
the Object Image Gallery has had over forty-three exhibitions.
Exhibits have included group shows, one -person shows and exhibits
of historical interest like the Mexican Printmakers and the recent
collaborative show of Vietnam War Combat Art. The gallery exhibits
work by established artists such as Gregory Paquette and Thomas
Hagen as well as of first time exhibiting artists. Many of the
artists are from Brooklyn but other gallery artists are from Boston,
Bologna, Italy and Scotland. The Object Image has also been known
for its lively Friday night openings.
Gallery owner and Director Bob Weiss, a born and raised Brooklynite,
has lived a block away from the gallery with his family for over
twenty-five years. An exhibiting painter, he has been a teacher of
Art History at Kingsborough C.C. and had been the Chair of Visual
Arts at the Berkeley Carroll School for fifteen years.
"It has been an exciting five years" according to Weiss, "there
were not many new businesses on this part of fifth Ave. when I
opened. I feel the gallery has provided a strong outlet for artists,
helped collectors expand their collections and most important it
provides a space for people to look at and enjoy quality art for
The current show includes the work of Michael Calbrese, Warren
Beishir, Gregory Paquette, Thomas Hagen, Ed Leibstone, Gareth McRae,
