Positively 9th Street
An on-line exhibit of paintings and drawings by
Brooklyn artists
of, from and about Ninth Street Brooklyn, N.Y.
Like a river running to the sea 9th Street works it’s way the two
miles from the Lafayette Statue in Prospect Park past large
brownstones, shopping avenues, active churches, an American
Revolution burial site toward an industrial landscape of oil
companies, iron works and warehouses. It passes three long time
Brooklyn landmarks, the Kentile Floor sign, the Gowanus canal and
the 9th street overpass (highest point on the N.Y.C. Subway
system.) The current show celebrates these landmarks and the
street that is home to them. The artists in this show have been
nourished by this landscape and have interpreted it in their own
unique ways.
